Meet Dr. Foster

Dr. Lauren K. Foster, is an Academic Director at the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE), an Assistant Professor of English at Germanna Community College, a Professor of Writing at American University, as well as an Educational Therapist & Diagnostician, and Neuroscience Coach. Recently, Dr. Foster served on the English Education Advisory Board for the Virginia Department of Education after being nominated and selected to represent higher education for Virginia. She was also nominated and served as a lead for two major Virginia state writing programs along with serving as a lead for other various institutional program creations and initiatives. Dr. Foster serves as a professional development program developer and facilitator for state, private, and institutional entities, as well.

Dr. Foster holds over two decades of experience as an Educator, Metacognition Expert, Neuroscience Coach, Educational Therapist, and Writing Program Administrator. Additionally, she is a trained Educational Diagnostician; offering diagnostic and screening services (ages 2-adult) monitoring progress in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, memory, cognitive abilities, and disability accommodations.

Throughout her years of service, Dr. Foster has been awarded various community, educational, and achievement honorary awards. Her most recent awards and recognitions include; ACUE Cheers for Peers Award, The Faculty Leadership Award, multiple Faculty Recognition Awards, and The Richard Gossweiler Learning Centered Professorship Award from Germanna Community College for her dedication to teaching excellence and faculty leadership. Dr. Foster has publications in ProQuest, TYCA-SE Journal, The Journal of Inquiry, and elsewhere. Dr. Foster is one of three Educational Therapists in the state of Virginia and an Associate member of the Association of Educational Therapists (AET).
